Which is better?

Much or little?
“Better is a little that the righteous hath than the abundance of many wicked for the arms of the wicked shall be broken; but Jehovah upholdeth the righteous” (Psalm 37: 16, 17).
“Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues with injustice“ (Proverbs 16: 8).
Marriage or celibacy?
“It is better to dwell in a desert land than with a contentious and fretful woman” (Proverbs 21: 19).
“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him that is alone when he falleth, and hath not another to lift him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have warmth; but how can one be warm [alone]? And if a man prevail against him that is alone, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken” (Ecclesiastes 4: 9 – 12).
“But I say to the unmarried and to widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they have not continency, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn” (1 Corinthians 7: 8, 9)
A good name or wealth?
“A [good] name is rather to be chosen than great riches, [and] loving favor rather than silver and gold” (Proverbs 22: 1).
Wisdom or wealth?
“Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared unto it” (Proverbs 8:10 – 11).
“Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, and the profit thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and none of the things thou canst desire are to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her” (Proverbs 3: 13 – 18).
“Thus saith Jehovah, let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches; but let him that glorieth glory in this, that he hath understanding, and knoweth me, that I am Jehovah who exerciseth lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith Jehovah”(Jeremiah 9: 23 – 24).
Poverty or wealth?
“Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith than a house full of feasting with strife” (Proverbs 17: 1).
Folly or wisdom?
“Better is a poor and wise youth than an old and foolish king who knoweth not how to receive admonition any more (Ecclesiastes 4: 13).
“It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools” (Ecclesiastes 7: 5).
Sadness or joy?
“Sorrow is better than laughter; for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made glad. The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth” (Ecclesiastes 7: 3, 4).
Man’s help or God’s help?
“Jehovah is on my side; I will not fear: What can man do unto me? Jehovah is on my side among them that help me: therefore shall I see [my desire] upon them that hate me.
It is better to take refuge in Jehovah than to put confidence in man. It is better to take refuge in Jehovah than to put confidence in princes. All nations compassed me about: In the name of Jehovah I will cut them off. They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: In the name of Jehovah I will cut them off. They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: In the name of Jehovah I will cut them off. Thou didst thrust sore at me that I might fall; but Jehovah helped me ” (Psalm 118: 6 – 13).
Earthly gains or obedience to the Lord?
“For thus saith Jehovah of the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and hold fast my covenant: Unto them will I give in my house and within my walls a memorial and a name better than of sons and of daughters; I will give
them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off” (Isaiah 56: 4, 5).
Sacrifice or obedience?
“And Samuel said, Hath Jehovah as great delight in burnt-offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of Jehovah? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams” (1 Samuel 15: 22).
“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and contrite heart, O, God, thou wilt not despise” (Psalm 51: 17).
Temptation or deprivation?
“And if thy hand cause thee to stumble, cut it off: it is good for thee to enter into life maimed, rather than having thy two hands to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire [where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.] And if thy foot cause thee to stumble, cut it off: it is good for thee to enter into life halt, rather than having thy two feet to be cast into hell [where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.] And if thine eye cause thee to stumble, cast it out: it is good for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell; where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched” (Mark 9: 43 – 48).
“And he said unto his disciples, It is impossible but that occasions of stumbling should come; but woe unto him, through whom they come! It were well for him if a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, rather than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble” (Luke 17: 1, 2).
Suffering as a good doer or an evildoer?
“For it is better, if the will of God should so will, that ye suffer for well-doing than for evil-doing” (1 Peter 3: 17).
Forbearance or deprivation?
“Nay, already it is altogether a defect in you, that ye have lawsuits one with another. Why not rather take wrong? Why not rather be defrauded? Nay, but ye yourselves do wrong, and defraud, and that [your] brethren. Or know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6: 7 – 10).
Freedom or slavery?
“Wast thou called being a bondservant? Care not for it: nay, even if thou canst become free, use [it] rather. For he that was called in the Lord being a bondservant, is the Lord’s freedman: likewise he that was called being free, is Christ’s bondservant. Ye were bought with a price; become not bondservants of men” (1 Corinthians 7: 21 – 23).
Laziness or hard work?
“Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished; but he that gathereth by labor shall have increase” (Proverbs 13: 11).
Earthly life or heavenly life?
“But now they desire a better [country], that is, a heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God; for he hath prepared for them a city”(Hebrews 11: 16).
“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us afterward” (Romans 8: 18).
Life with faith or life without faith?
“And what shall I more say? For the time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah; of David and Samuel and the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, waxed mighty in war, turned to flight armies of aliens.
